SUMMARY:East End Film Festival presents Palestine on Film
DESCRIPTION:East End Film Festival presents an entire day of cinema and tal
ks\, exploring Palestine and the Palestinian experience. From touching sto
ries of Palestinian youth to the Yarmouk refugee camp in Syria\, and from
an in depth exploration of the Palestinian peace process to a poetic journ
ey back to the homeland\, these are films that speak to the length and bre
adth of the Palestinian experience and its diaspora\, with contributions f
rom experts and filmmakers. An unmissable day of eye opening cinema. The d
ay will involve talks with experts from the Palestinian filmmaking communi
ty and beyond.\n\nThe programme - taking place at Red Gallery in Shoreditc
h on Sunday 22nd June 2014 - includes the UK premiere of My Love Awaits M
e By The Sea\, Mais Darwazah’s poetic documentary\, inspired by the wor
k of artist and writer Hasan Hourani. Director Jessica Habie's Mars at Su
nrise is the day's second UK premiere - a dramatic re-imagining of the ar
rest of Palestinian artist Hani Zurob.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nJust Play\, a Europea
n premiere\, a film that sidesteps politics to make a powerful case for hu
man dignity and art\, follows Joshua Baker's The Process\, examining the
role of the peace process in the lives of individuals\, an instructive and
powerful documentary. The Shebabs of Yarmouk\, a portrait of permanent
friendship\, and lives permanently on hold\, will also be screened\, as we
ll as two short films: Omar Robert Hamilton's Though I Know The River Is
Dry and Nicolas Damun's darkly comedic Maqloubeh.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nFounded
in 2000\, the East End Film Festival is one of the UK’s largest film fes
tivals. An annual multi-platform festival held in London\, the EEFF presen
ts a rich and diverse programme of international premieres\, industry mast
erclasses\, free pop-up screenings and immersive live events. The EEFF’s
mission is to discover\, support\, and exhibit pioneering work by global
and local independent filmmakers\, and to introduce viewers to innovative
 and challenging cinematic experiences.\n\n***********************\n\nSched
